Wayne County Industrial Development Authority
Signs Letter of Intent to Sell Tank Plant Property

JESUP - The Wayne County Industrial Development Authority has entered into an agreement that outlines terms to sell the former American Welding and Tank plant to Williams Brothers Trucking  for $1 million dollars. Located on Highway 341 in Wayne County, the plant was bought by the IDA in late December for $625,000.

The property would be leased for the first five years with an option to purchase the property at the end of the lease. If the deal is finalized, it could create up to 50 jobs over the term of the lease with a target of a minimum of 25 jobs within the first year. Long-term plans for development of the property call for additional jobs.

The agreement allows the company to take advantage of certain incentives available to them by creating a minimum number of full time jobs within the five year period.  Those jobs must be created in Wayne County, be 35 hours or more per week and have the same benefits provided as other regular employees.

“We are extremely excited to be working with Williams Brothers Trucking. This is a good company and they will be easy to work with, ” Mickey Whittington, Authority chairman, said. “We were fortunate to be able to purchase the property after long negioations and now we are looking forward to using the property to create jobs in Wayne County” he added.

Williams Brothers Trucking will use the property to expand their current operations headquartered in Hazlehurst, GA.
